Curaçao Color Walk

The Curaçao Color Walk is one of the island's most beloved community events, known for its vibrant celebration of unity, health, and inclusion through a color-filled 7KM walk. With a strong legacy in the community, the event had not taken place since the COVID-19 pandemic, making the 2025 edition a highly anticipated return.

The Challenges & Objectives

The 2025 event aimed to reignite the tradition with a renewed purpose: to raise funds and awareness for two impactful local initiatives, De SGR-Groep, an organization focused on inclusion and empowerment for individuals with special needs, and the EYoung Talent Fund, which supports youth development in arts, sports, and culture.

Challenge

  • Relaunch a legacy event post-COVID
  • Navigate a saturated media landscape due to overlapping Carnaval and political campaigns
  • Achieve full sell-out of tickets and merchandise under a tight promotional timeline

Objectives

  1. Bring a Sold-Out event to fruition.
  2. Rebuild brand excitement and community trust post-COVID.
  3. Raise maximum visibility for the causes behind the event.
  4. Reinforce Color Walk as a key event in Curaçao’s cultural calendar.

Our Approach

Base Caribbean developed a multi-channel strategy that leveraged both modern digital techniques and trusted traditional tactics to reach a diverse, island-wide audience:

  • Digital: Daily social content, teaser videos, paid ads, community engagement on Facebook and Instagram
  • Influencer Marketing: Collaborations with local artists and public figures (e.g., Tyziano, Chris Strick, One Band, Dj Lu-C) to amplify reach
  • Traditional Media: Press releases in two languages, strategic radio/TV coverage, and print presence
  • Out-of-Home: Billboards in high-traffic areas; POS activation at Sambil

Results

  • Over 8,000 participants and 325 volunteers
  • 100% of tickets sold out before event day
  • Strong visibility and social media engagement island-wide
  • Event successfully raised funds for both De SGR-Groep (who also participated with their clients) and the EYoung Talent Fund
  • Color Walk re-established as one of Curaçao’s premier cultural events

Base Caribbean effectively repositioned a paused community event into a fully sold-out, high-impact comeback through a strategic blend of modern marketing and local insight.
